Week 5, Post 2

     Fallacies are arguments which are logically flawed. They are used in debates to confuse and manipulate the topic, which can be very deceptive. For example, "If Biden wins, China wins, all these other countries win. We get ripped off by everybody". Donald Trump said this during a campaign speech for his 2020 reelection campaign. This quote is an example of the Slippery Slope fallacy, where one claims that one thing will lead to another with no factual basis. Trump deceived his followers into thinking that the election of Joe Biden would directly lead to loss of American economic power. 

    Using fallacies to in an argument to someone, especially a person who is not well versed logically, could be a good way to deceive them. Many things that Donald Trump says are logically flawed through and through and yet people believe them more and more. If someone knew how to utilize fallacies in their arguments similar to Trump, they could theoretically become president!
